The book of Revelation is like a group email. It was sent to seven Christian congregations that were clustered near the city of Ephesus in western Asia Minor. The apostle John had helped to lead the church in Ephesus, and he was also well known in the other six churches. Tucked inside the book are seven letters — one to each church — but all the churches got to read each other’s mail. John (and Jesus, who dictated these letters to John) wanted all the churches to hear what Jesus had to say!
